LDS Access is our mobile classroom

LDS Access

LDS Access is our fully electric mobile classroom outreach service that provides our expert RISE 1:1 program and Assistive Technology to children and youth in neighbourhoods where they live

LDS Access’s mission is to remove barriers to individualised evidenced-based instruction for students with learning differences by bring our Research-Informed Individualised Student Education 1:1 instruction program to local neighbourhoods.

Our 1:1 Explicit Instruction program supports students with academic skills gaps and learning challenges in the areas of reading, writing, and math, and helps them to build confidence in themselves as learners along the way. Students work one-to-one with a highly qualified and specialised instructor who they are paired with through our student-centred individualized placement process. For more information about our RISE 1:1 instruction program including: individualized academic intervention, assessments, progress monitoring, parent/family reports, assistive technology and the suite of supports we offer our families please visit our RISE 1:1 Instruction webpage.

At LDS we are transforming accessibility to address the real barriers families face in accessing services including geography and family income. Whether students attend our 1:1 program at our East Vancouver or North Vancouver Learning centres, our partner schools, via our RISE at Home online program, or aboard LDS Access, our programs transcend geographical restraints and operate on sliding fee scales to ensure that all students can receive the individualised supports they need to thrive throughout their life span.

Award-winning artist Carson Ting was inspired by LDS Access and created a mural that wraps around the bus and captures the essence of the LDS Mission and Vision.

Working with local Vancouver companies, Green Power and NGSI, we customized a clean energy all-electric minibus to create a mobile classroom for students with learning differences, the first of its kind in Canada. See our tv, radio and other BC-wide media coverage here.

The innovative design elements of LDS Access ensure COVID-19 protective measures are maintained within each of the mobile classroom’s three physically distanced instruction stations.
