We support the Representative for Children and Youth’s report on calls for systemic change

We are grateful to the Representative for Children and Youth and their dedicated team for the comprehensive research and thoughtful approach demonstrated throughout the recently released “Don’t Look Away” report. This vital work illuminates the challenges faced by vulnerable children and youth and urges us all to take decisive action.

We also commend the provincial government for their response to the report’s findings. By acknowledging these issues and committing to actionable steps, they demonstrate a genuine concern for the well-being and future of our young people. This commitment is crucial to creating a supportive environment where every child can thrive.

At LDS – Learn. Develop. Succeed., we are devoted to preventing children and youth from falling through the cracks. Our specialized one-to-one programs, neuroaffirming approach, and comprehensive supports and services meet the unique needs of each child, providing the support they need to overcome challenges and help them succeed, both personally and academically.

Our approach prioritizes empathy, understanding, and personalized attention, ensuring each child receives the care and support they need to flourish. The findings of the “Don’t Look Away” report and the provincial government’s commitment to addressing these issues resonate deeply with our mission at LDS.

Here are some of the ways we are ensuring the vulnerable learners we serve are receiving the support they deserve and need:

  1. We are raising awareness across BC by training community organizations and educators on inclusion, advocacy, and support for neurodiverse children and youth.
  2. We partner with educators, mental health workers, and organizations like Foundry BC to build a web of care for children and youth.
  3. We invest in early intervention and support for vulnerable children and their families by connecting them with professionals and support to navigate early challenges with learning in childcare, preschool, and the transition to kindergarten.
  4. We provide family coaching to address unique challenges and build each parent or guardian’s capacities with support, empathy, and educational consultations.
  5. We help children and youth build confidence and resilience in our relational, strengths-based, individualized programs.

We are excited to continue collaborating with dedicated organizations and government bodies to ensure no child is left behind. Together, we can create a brighter future where all children and youth are empowered to learn, develop, and succeed.

Thank you once again to the Representative for Children and Youth for your invaluable research and to the provincial government for your commitment to taking action for systemic reform. Let’s continue to work together to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of our young people.
