Brain Buddies STEAM Camp: Spring Break
Discover how amazing brains work—through play, creativity, and hands-on STEAM fun!
Who
This group is for children in grades 2–3 who are discovering how their brains work and how social communication supports them in playing with others and making friends.
Where
Brain Buddies meet at our East Vancouver Centre (3292 East Broadway) in our group programming space.
When
Brain Buddies will take place Monday March 23rd to Thursday March 26th from 9AM to 4PM.

Program Description
This dynamic, inclusive camp invites learners to explore the fascinating world of neuroscience and the learning process using a kid-friendly metaphor: your brain as a network of highways and construction zones! Through engaging activities, campers will uncover how their brains build, connect, and grow—while having a blast with friends.
Through this metaphor, we’ll explore:
- Individual strengths and preferences
- Self-identified areas of growth and goals
- Tools and helpful phrases for emotional and sensory regulation
- Helpers in our personal life and community

Why Brain Buddies?
Many neurodivergent children spend a lot of energy trying to fit in at school and in extracurricular activities. They don’t always have spaces where it feels safe to be themselves. Our camp celebrates differences and encourages authentic communication and connection. Here, every child is respected, supported, and free to learn and play in ways that feel right for them.
Program Information
What to Expect
For four days, Campers will dive into a world of discovery that blends science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) with social learning and neuroscience. Each day includes fun activities designed to spark curiosity, self-acceptance, and teamwork. Activities may include:
- Games and creative challenges
- Science investigations and puzzles
- Group play that builds social confidence
- Robotics and assistive technology
Along the way, campers practice essential skills like:
- Self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-advocacy
- Initiating and sustaining play with peers
- Resolving conflicts and repairing relationships
- Perspective-taking and empathy
Neuroaffirming Approach
We use a neuroaffirming framework—acknowledging, supporting, and celebrating neurodiversity. Campers do not need a diagnosis to attend, but they should feel comfortable hearing discussions about brain-based differences. Every child will learn about their amazing brain in a safe, supportive environment.
