Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

Almas (she/her) holds a BA in Sociology with a minor in Special Education from UBC. She was a 2024 UBC nominee for the BC Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Inclusion, Diversity, and Reconciliation. She works with children on the autism spectrum as a Senior Behaviour Interventionist, assisting with creating and implementing evidence-based programs designed to support children’s social, academic, and life skills development across various settings. She also has experience supporting students one-to-one, in small group instruction, and within a K-12 special education school. Almas believes in utilizing a neuroaffirming, child-led, family-centred approach in her work and aims to promote the development of inclusive environments and attitudes through learning from and building on the experiences of others.
