Our RISE Approach

Our programs follow a unique Research-informed, Individualized Student Education (RISE) approach, which customizes learning support to meet the needs of each learner.

What is RISE?

R – Research-informed

Research-informed means we use the most effective instructional approaches and the lived experience of neurodivergent individuals. We do this while being flexible to meet learners’ needs, as learners with learning and brain-based differences have unique, varied needs.

We work to leverage the most effective instructional techniques that are research/evidence-backed to ensure our learners receive the best instruction for them.

I – Individualized

Individualized emphasizes the importance of strong instructor-learner matching and recognizing that each learner’s needs, capacities, and readiness for learning can fluctuate. Our approach tailors every session to meet a learner where they are with engaging and enjoyable sessions. We foster a neuroaffirming, learner-centered, and strengths-based environment that adapts to the unique needs of each individual.

S – Student

Our students, or learners, have suspected or diagnosed learning and brain-based differences like dyslexia, ADHD, and autism. Most of our students are struggling in school, training, or work and are looking for tailored strengths-based support to help them get the support they need to thrive.

Our learners are of all ages and receive individualized support in our learning centres, at schools, and online across Canada.

E – Education

Our specialized education focuses on key areas of academics, social-emotional learning, and executive function skills. Drawing from a library of research-informed curriculae, our learners receive the highest quality education and learning support. With support from a team of case managers, learners receive progress monitoring, assessments, mid-year and end-of-year reports and age-appropriate access to assistive technology.

What Makes RISE Special?

Our RISE approach to specialized learning support is neuroaffirming, impactful, holistic, and flexible. Unlike traditional approaches focusing solely on academic goals through repetitive drills, the RISE approach centres on the whole learner.

Each session is individualized and tailored to meet the learner’s unique needs in the moment.

We prioritize creating a positive and supportive learning environment where learners not only build practical skills but also grow in confidence, agency, and a genuine enjoyment of learning. This approach ensures that learners feel valued and empowered, fostering both personal growth and academic success.
