Welcome

Your Fees and Funding

Jordan’s Principle
About Jordan’s Principle
Eligible families must have a status or non-status Indigenous child who lives on or off reserve.
You can use Jordan’s Principle Funding to cover your child’s LDS sessions or program. Once we have a confirmed ISC number shared with us for the program, we will directly bill Indigenous Services Canada for the full fee for the sessions or program.
It is currently taking as long as 2 years for Jordan’s Principle applications to be processed and fees to be allocated. We will continue to do everything we can to support learners using this funding pathway to access our services in a timely manner. We do not need to wait for approval to begin services. We do require confirmation of application.
Required steps to confirm your application to LDS before your deadline
2 years is a significant amount of time for a nonprofit charity to go without payment. We appreciate your efforts to do your part in allowing us to operate in a sustainable way by completing the steps below with your Jordan’s Principle application.
- When you submit your application over email, CC or BCC your LDS Family and Student Services Member or accounts@ldsociety.ca. This is the best way of confirming to us that you’ve submitted your application.
- You need to provide LDS with your ISC number as soon as you receive it.
- If you used a representative (Service Coordinator) to apply for Jordan’s Principle, please let us know their contact details, so we can inquire with them on the status of the application if we never receive the payment.
- Recommended step: Name Jacqueline Lai, our Senior Manager, Finance, as an authorized representative on your application. This way she’ll be able to check in directly with Jordan’s Principle on the status of your application. If she’s not able to do this, the LDS team will have to be in touch with you or your representative to get any information about your application. It is your responsibility to keep LDS updated with your application, especially for those applications that end up taking a long time after LDS sessions have happened.
The application and these steps must be completed within the first 14 days (two weeks) after your child’s first session with LDS. Your Family and Student Services Member will give you the date of your exact deadline. If we do not have evidence of a completed or ongoing application to Jordan’s Principle, we will not be able to provide services at $0.
Once Jordan’s Principle funds are granted
We may not be alerted directly by Jordan’s Principle when your application is received, or your funds are granted.
Once you receive an ITM number, ISC number, or any update to your Jordan’s Principle request for LDS services, share that information with us as soon as possible.

Autism Funding
You can use AFU funds (Autism Funding from the BC provincial government) to cover your child’s LDS sessions or program. Once AFU sends confirmation to LDS, we will directly bill them the full fee for your sessions or program.
**Please note that our sliding scale fees and internal bursary do not apply to families using AFU funding.**
AFU Request to Pay
We require confirmation that you sent an AFU Request to Pay for LDS. (See the Request to Pay form below from the AFU Portal.) Please email us as soon as you have sent this. For one-to-one instruction, we require this confirmation within the first two weeks of your child starting at LDS. For all other programs, we require confirmation before the program starts.
- You can charge all LDS fees to AFU using this form.
- You must print, sign, and send the Request to Pay form to AFU.
- You can also complete a request for funding via the online portal or over the phone.
- LDS can charge AFU for sessions or programs that happened up to 6 months ago. If we do not receive funds from AFU within this period (6 months of session), you will be liable to pay for your sessions or program.
When your AFU funding runs out
- For one-to-one instruction, you will pay a monthly fee to LDS for the remainder of the school year.
- For other LDS programs, you will pay the remainder of your fees for that program.
- Please refer to the sliding scale fee schedule on our families’ webpage to learn more.

Funding
LDS’ fees are covered by a combination of:
- Fee payments by each family
- Grants, when a family is eligible
- LDS Bright Futures Bursary
We require families, where eligible, to apply for funding through individual grants to help cover the cost of their sessions. The funds from these grants ensure our internal bursary can go further and support more families.
If you’re not eligible to apply for the grants but you’re accessing our sliding scale, your fee rate is subsidized solely by LDS Bright Futures Bursary. We raise these funds through non-governmental grants and fundraising. You’re not required to do anything else to access the fee level, but we strongly encourage you to engage with and amplify our fundraising efforts.
Notice of Assessment (NOA)
If your family is accessing our Bright Futures Bursary and CKNW or Variety, we require verification of your household income. You must provide a copy of the CRA Notice of Assessment (NOA) for each adult in your household.
