What’s New in the 2025-26 School Year

I’m pleased to welcome you to another year of enrolling in RISE One-to-One Instruction at LDS. Please read the important updates below.

Fees

As we do most years, we have increased our rates to keep pace with financial pressures and costs of goods and to offer our expert team living wages.

We have also slightly adapted the thresholds of our household income scale to recognize the escalating living costs in BC. This adjustment allows us to include more families at a lower fee threshold.

Annual Net Household Income RISE One-to-One Hourly Fee
$0 – $30,000 $16.00
$30,000 – $70,000 $16.00
$70,000 – $85,000 $55.00
$85,000 – $120,000 $93.00
$120,000 – $160,000 $98.00
$160,000 + $104.00

For more information about how our fees work, please see this article from last year on how our fees work at LDS.

East Vancouver Learning Centre

Our East Vancouver location expanded and changed in August 2024. We’ve acquired the downstairs space at 2607 Rupert Street. Your child might have received instruction in this space in the 2024-25 school year. We’re excited about the growth opportunities that the new space affords us as we continue to serve more families and individuals every year.

We are still asking families to drop off and wait for pick-up upstairs in our main waiting area at 3292 East Broadway to ensure student safety.

Information Systems

The systems you interact with at LDS, such as application forms, TeachWorks, and LessonSpace, will not change this coming academic year.

For your information, on the back end, we are designing and implementing an advanced learning information system to more efficiently manage your information and support the management of programs, time, and spaces. This new system will process the information you give us and the information we generate to allow for more efficient solutions to scheduling, learner-instructor matching, and more. We will use this framework to add other features over the coming months and years. The new system and additions to it are funded through a Game-Changing Giving grant from Social Venture Partners Vancouver.

Your information’s protection and careful storage continue to be a top priority, and our privacy policy continues to apply. You can learn more about the Canadian-based cloud servers and privacy measures that apply to this database development and other technology initiatives by reading our forthcoming blog or contacting our privacy officer (PrivacyOfficer@ldsociety.ca).

We are also investigating and will soon be piloting other technology tools involving artificial intelligence and machine learning to assist with making our operations more efficient and provide support with data analysis. We will share more about these projects when they are ready. Nothing is shared externally at this time, and no AI or machine learning systems are interfacing with our learners; it is all back-end, contained support for operations and management.

All these initiatives aim to provide the highest-quality learning and related support for our learners and families, creating more time and space for the essential human connection and the trusting relationships that we have always valued.
