Karen Ip

Karen (she/her) is an administrative officer with a MS in Genome Science and Technology from the University of British Columbia. She has experience as a research and development coordinator in academic, clinical, and industry projects. She has built analytical workflows that leverage high-dimensional datasets for product testing and policymaking. Karen’s interest in developmental neuroscience has led her to create novel tools like in-silico simulators for the developing brain. Her career interests lie in projects that prioritize accessibility and ethical coding, especially those that have a direct impact in uplifting the local community.

Her work experience has made her proficient at taking on many roles, from software development in Canada’s first drone-based reforestation company to neurodevelopmental bioinformatics at the hospital. She sees the throughline in all these projects as ways to bolster her community. Karen is aligned with our mission to set the standard for neuro-affirming education for all.

Outside of work, Karen is a recreational dragon boat paddler, badminton player, and piano ensemble performer. She enjoys drawing and videogames, too.
