Marko S.

Instructor

Bachelor of Arts (in progress)

Marko (they/he) is finishing their BA in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Simon Fraser University with an extended minor in English Literature, following their studies in Creative Writing at Capilano University. Their studies focus largely on colonial and patriarchal systems, particularly how those systems impact the disabled community. Marko has worked with children as a caretaker for over a decade and began working as a tutor and educational assistant in 2022. Working with young learners is one of their greatest passions, and they love to make learning fun and rewarding for students. Marko is especially devoted to ensuring learners feel seen and heard, and to making space for those who struggle to find belonging. They are a big believer in education as a human right and are enthusiastic about making it a more inclusive and joyful process.

Outside of work, Marko enjoys reading, writing, and drawing, and hopes to publish their work in the future. They are an active member of their local queer community in Victoria and enjoy attending community events and programs. On days off, they can be found working on their art in local libraries, studying in one of the many independent cafes on the peninsula, or playing video games and TTRPGs with their friends and housemates. Music is essential to Marko when working on their art, studying, or spending time with others, and they play many instruments, sing, and write songs. Their best friend in the world is their cat, Onyx, a food ninja and expert snuggler who follows Marko everywhere he can.
