
RISE and Shine
An innovative summer program that provides students with intensive, individualized support to build foundational academic skills in literacy and math and includes fun social programming with peers.
Who
A student with significant and persistent learning needs who is not making adequate academic progress and would benefit from building social skills.
A student with suspected or diagnosed learning differences going into grades 3 through 7.
Where
This program is offered in person at our East Vancouver Learning Centre at 3292 East Broadway only.
When
Monday July 8th – Friday July 26th or
Tuesday August 6th – Friday August 23rd
The program runs Mon-Thur 9am – 3pm and Fri 9am – 12pm.

Program Description
RISE and Shine provides students with
- Intensive, individualized support to build foundational academic skills in math and literacy and
- Social programming to build confidence with peers.
Mornings: Students receive intensive intervention in math and literacy from our highly qualified learning support staff and our amazing team of specialized, passionate instructors.
Afternoons: Students build their confidence with peers in fun social programming to support: social thinking, growth mindset, and fine motor skill development. Students may also go on local walking outings together.

Parents or guardians can apply to RISE & Shine through our online application form below. After you have submitted your application, you will book an intake with an LDS team member to gather more information, answer your questions, and enroll you in the program.
Fees: We’re pleased to offer a generous sliding scale to fees based on household income. Please apply, contact us, or see the fee schedule below to learn more.

FeesWhat to Expect
Before the Program
After you have submitted your application, you will book an intake with an LDS team member to gather more information, answer your questions, and enroll you in the program.
Our team will review your existing educational documentation.
Our team will conduct informal tests to inform lesson planning and create an individualized, research-based program to address your child’s learning needs. Students new to LDS will meet with an instructor for additional assessments before the program starts.
During the Program
Your child will enroll in either our July or August cohort.
Our team will monitor progress in reading and math and conduct informal tests to assess progress.
After the Program
You will receive a report on your child’s progress at the end of this intensive program.
Our team may make additional recommendations for enrichment activities, including potential ongoing one-to-one remedial instruction online or at one of our Centres.

Our comprehensive learning support is personalized to meet each student’s learning goals. Get support in foundational skills – literacy and/or math and school skills – executive function, self-regulation for learning, studying, homework and coursework.

Our customized and creative week-long Vancouver camps helping students with learning differences develop new skills through fun, hands-on camp programs with a high instructor-to-camper ratio.

Tutoring
Identify an area of need and stay on track during the summer. Experienced instructors tutor students in core curriculum and secondary courses such as English, Math, Science and Socials.
