Program Description

The Academic Intensive provides students with intensive, individualized support to build foundational academic skills in math and literacy. Your student will benefit from our team approach with highly qualified learning support staff and our amazing team of specialized, passionate instructors.

Our team helps students who have fallen behind academically. Our intensive intervention program can serve as a buffer for the “summer slide” that affects many students!

Parents or guardians can apply for the Academic Intensive through our online application form below. After you have submitted your application, an LDS team member will contact you to gather more information, answer your questions, and enroll you in the program.

Fees: We’re pleased to offer a generous sliding scale to fees based on household income. Please apply or contact us to learn more.

Activity Schedule

What to Expect

Before the Program Begins

We will administer a formal assessment with your child using the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement (KTEA3), which evaluates academic skills in reading, math, and written language, and identifies achievement gaps.

An LDS team member will review your existing educational documentation.

Our LDS team creates individualized, research-based programming to address each student’s learning needs.

Assessments

During the Program

Each student will receive three hours of instruction each day in math, literacy, or both subjects.

Students can also work on typing and study skills with their instructor during this intensive intervention.

Our LDS team will monitor progress in reading and math weekly using aimswebPLUS, an online assessment and reporting tool, and use informal measures to monitor spelling and writing progress.

After the Program

You will receive a report on your child’s progress at the end of this intensive program.

Our LDS team may make additional recommendations for enrichment activities, including potential ongoing one-to-one instruction at one of our Centres or online via RISE at Home.
