Who We Are

Our Work

As a non-profit charitable organization that has supported children and youth with suspected or diagnosed learning disabilities for over 50 years, the Learning Disabilities Society of Greater Vancouver (LDS) offers financially accessible, high-quality learning support for students.

Our Research-informed Individualized Student Education (RISE) programs provide customized, one-to-one or small group learning support for children and youth aged 6-18 with diagnosed or suspected learning disabilities. Offered online, in school, through various camps, and at our LDS Learning Centres, RISE programs are available year-round. You can read more about our remedial tutoring, intensive intervention, small group camp, family coaching and other programs on our Programs page.

LDS is dedicated to providing equitable, affordable access to learning support for all students. Due to the ongoing generous support of our donors, grantors, and sponsors, we are able to help subsidize the cost of providing our programming to students and families in need.

Our Vision

We believe that all children should have access to the academic support they need to succeed. We are focused on promoting community awareness and fostering a greater understanding of the issues and challenges faced by children with learning differences. Through early intervention, our goal is to make a transformative difference in the learning and life outcomes of students. Our ultimate goal is to effect systems change that leads to wide-ranging social benefits.

Our Mission and Values

To empower all children and youth with learning disabilities to recognize their unique strengths and develop the tools to achieve lifelong confidence and success. We are driven by and committed to the following core values: community, kindness, acceptance, and achievement.
